Urban Research, Spatial Analysis and Data-Driven Planning
I research cities, teach spatial methods and develop educational resources focused on urban inequalities, spatial configuration and accessibility using GIS, network analysis and urban data science.
Investigating cities, inequalities and the spaces in between

Ana Luisa Maffini
Researcher | Urban Planner | GIS Tools Developer
I am an urban researcher and educator interested in understanding how cities are shaped by spatial structures, inequalities and everyday urban dynamics. My work explores the relationships between urban form, accessibility and socio-spatial disparities through spatial analysis, GIS, network science and urban data.
Alongside research, I develop educational materials, tutorials and methodological resources aimed at making spatial analysis, GIS and urban data science more accessible to students, researchers and practitioners. I am particularly interested in bridging academic research and applied methods, helping translate complex analytical tools into practical approaches for urban investigation and planning.
My work also includes the development of tools and workflows for urban analysis, especially in the integration of spatial data, street networks and socio-spatial indicators to support evidence-based urban research and planning.
